David Parkes who exclusively shapes the Friar Tuck boards ,has been producing and developing the shapes and manufacturing process non stop, since he moved to Byron Bay from Sydney in 1982. Some of Australia’s best kneeboard shapers have worked under the roof of the Friar Tuck label as well, over the years, and have played their part and contributed to the success of Friar Tuck Kneeboards and the Friar Tuck label itself.

After taking on the business in 1983, David made a conscious effort to broaden the range of shapes available. By travelling as much as possible to exotic and challenging surf locations, the need to improve and develop his shapes was quickly recognised and acted upon.

This has resulted in an evolution of varied designs that can be made to suit all wave types and personal preferences for surfers from all over the world

David works closely with his test pilots these days to ensure cutting edge performance is still shaped into every board while maintaining a careful listening ear to customers both old and new and of all levels, to incorporate their feedback into their next custom board.

Custom shapes are still the mainstay of David’s work but a range of stock boards, featuring the Friar Tuck label is usually available.
The shape is only one part of a great board and we can advise and provide information about all the blank, lamination, materials, fin, colour and finish options that are available

First quality materials are only used, whilst the team glassing , sanding and finishing have decades of experience.
Australian made materials and Australian owned suppliers and surfer owned businesses are preferred as business partners where possible.

Ridden by World Champions and just about everybody else it’s all about having fun when going surfing.
